Comfy Engine

Privacy

Comfy Engine is run as a small publication. We collect as little as we can, and nothing here is sold.

When you read a page

The site sets no cookies for readers and stores nothing in your browser. There is no third-party analytics script, no advertising network and no social media widget on our pages.

To see which pages are useful, the site sends itself a short note when you leave or hide a page: a random number that lives only in that page's memory, how many seconds the page was visible, how far down you scrolled, the page address, the name of the site that sent you (for example a search engine) on the first page of a visit, whether the device looks like a phone or a computer, and the country our network provider reports for your connection. We do not store your IP address or your browser's user agent with it. The random number is removed after two days, so what remains are anonymous daily counts. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, no note is sent at all.

Our servers, like all web servers, keep short technical logs (address, time, page requested) for security and troubleshooting. They are deleted automatically after about a week.

Partner boxes

Some pages carry boxes marked as partner picks. When you click one, the site counts the click (which box, which page, the country reported for your connection, no personal data) and you go to the shop or service. For some partners the box first asks our own server for the partner's tracking address and then takes you there. Partner images are served from our own site.

Once you are on a partner's site, its own privacy policy applies, and it may set cookies to attribute a purchase to us. Partners we may work with include CJ (Commission Junction, cj.com/legal/privacy) and MaxBounty (maxbounty.com/privacy).

When you write to us

The contact form asks for your name, email address and message. It is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person is sending it. Your message is stored in the site's admin and forwarded to the editors' inbox so we can reply. We use your address only to answer you and delete old messages we no longer need. Mail sent to devlog@comfyengine.org is handled the same way.

Service providers

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes requests to protect and speed up the site, and runs on a server we rent. Neither is allowed to use your data for its own purposes beyond providing the service.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete a message you sent, by writing to devlog@comfyengine.org. The reading notes contain nothing that identifies you, so there is nothing personal in them to look up.
